Hi, My 1970's 9.5 fills up with water when rinning. The lower unit oil is free of water. When I use the motor and then tip it up to beach the boat, water pours out from under the cowl into the boat. Any ideas.

Dave

Does your 9.5 have a telltale? That is the stream of water that exits out the back telling you that you have waterflow. If it does, it may be disconected unde the cowl.

Or, run it with the cowl off, you'll see where the water is coming from.

It's always the simple things! I will check that and see where it goes. Thanks

A friend has a 15 hp with a flush fitting inside the cowl. It sprays water inside the cowl if it's not closed.

there is a little hose out the bottom of the cowling the exits out the right side it goes from the power head out the lower cowling this is the pee/ exhaust hole make sure that is not broken. if its not then check for leaks from the head or thermostat housing.there is also an exhaust donut in the mid section that goes bad but i dont think that its going to be that because i said its holding water in the power head. eather way u have to get it running in a trash can and check to see where your leak is. let us know that u come up with
