i bought a 9.8 merc for twenty bucks at a yard sell took it to the shop the guy first told me the fuel pump was bad no problem. he called a couple days later and said the ried valves were bad not worth fixin but offerd me a hunderd bucks for the engine i declined took it home bypassed the fuel pump and hooked line direct to carb engine runs fine does this mean he didnt fix fuel pump???? and if reed valves are bad why does it run
