9.9 2003 Honda High Thrust

I have a 9.9 high thrust long shaft honda motor. Does not pump water. Is the water supposed to come out the hole in the back or one of the 2 oles on starboard side of the motor. Took the lower end off and 2 of the fins on the impeller facing the opposite direction. I was told to turn the impeller in a clockwise direction when I put it back in. Started the motor back and still was not pumping water.

Need help

Try sticking a flexible wire or thick plastic wire tie in the telltale outlet tube. My 8hp has occasionally had that blocked, usually by mud daubers. I don't know which is the telltale on the 9.9; on the 8 it is on the port side, at the back. Look for a tube exiting the block and draining through a hole in the bottom part of the engine cover.

One thing I forgot to mention - if you don't know which tube is the telltale, and you have one that exits the carburetor bowl and goes down through the housing, it isn't that one.

Got it to work
Had to drop lower end make sure all the fins on the impellor were the right direction, clean out the tube, put it back together still didn't work.
Took it apart again and took out the prop shaft and its carrier thought there was a problem there found out there wasn't put it back together but left the lower unit off then took the exhaust "housing" off took a house connected it to where the tube comes down the shaft and connected a clear hose and filled with water several times and blew water through it. It was clear. Put back together put the lower unit back on and ran the motor again. Still didn't pump water. Looked at the hose where it runs through a hole on "flange: on the block and it looked like it was pinched. Fixed that now it works. Probably the problem the whole time.
