Ok, knock on wood.... I got it running for 20 min now:cool: The lable on the motor says to use regular gas. Does any one know if I can't get regular gas if I should put in a lead substitute since the only gas around here is unleaded.

Does it say use leaded fuel only? If it just says use "regular" gas I would think it is telling you 87 octane is fine. No need for a higher grade of gasoline.....

Lead was used as a cushion for valves. Two cycle engines have no valves. 'White gas' was often recommended for outboards in earlier years because it was lead-free. So no lead is needed or desirable.

BUT---alcohol-free gas IS recommended if you can find it. If not be prepared to have to replace all rubber based components in the fuel system and clean the dissolved by-products from the system and carb.

It is quite likely that your run time problems are associated with gunk in the carb from melting fuel lines. Change the fuel lines for modern equivalents suitable for use with alcohol and clean the carb.
