My mechanic says this unsealed cover plate has nothing to do with idle and wot because on the corner that is warped has no passages that it would affect. Can I use a gasgat sealer here? Or just buy another cover? Is he ultimately right, it wouldn't affect the operation? When I have it idling right it has no top end, when I mess with idle needle I can get it up on plane but then it won't idle.

I read somewhere that someone mentioned a 6th screw installed in that area. Is that possible and if it is, any instructions would help, thanks

Sounds like you have some dirty jets, what year is this carb from?

1991, I pulled it apart yesterday and it was super clean, I blew out every hole, checked float, all the gasgets were brand new, MT, did you see the picture I posted

Yes, I can see the picture, although, I am looking for a more detailed diagram on that carb so I can check something.

Is that the top cover that has the mixture adjustment screw in the side of it? Is so, and it is warped where you can't get a good seal on it, it is not going to run correctly because you will not be able to get the air mixture correctly.

The slow idle is located in the front, I just removed the cover again to check the needle, it doesn't seem to be touching at the point, it just rubs against a plastic nodule that could be a sort of jet but not at the TIP, it touches it on the left side perpendicular to the needle, number for carb is 335190 & mx433333

You might have to call them, I didn't find anything when I searched the store for that part number

Well if you have tore it apart a couple of times, I would get a rebuild kit and go a head and replace the things that have worn including the gaskets, the more times you take them apart the more compressed they become and can cause air and fuel leaks. At this point, I would tear it apart, soak it, to make sure nothing is in the passages and then put it back together, then you will know for sure.

You won't find the cover as an after market product. You'll have to pay a visit to your local dealer to get one. They do come in a kit form with cover, cover gasket and needle. You can also order them online at the Bomby site. These tops will warp after a while especially if they have not been installed correctly.....that is following the numbers on top of the cover and tightening each screw a little at a time so the top will set flat. DO NOT over tighten the screws.

I just went through it with my 9.8 Merc, finally ended up replacing the carb due to all of the little problems, we are hoping on getting on the water in the AM.
