Hey fellas, will the sticky ^^^ up above work for a mid-70's 9.9?

Nope! You remove the 4 bolts holding on the lower unit, put it in forward gear position, reach in the gap with a screwdriver or Allen wrench--depending on the screw type. You remove the screw holding together the shift linkage then the whole thing slides apart. Three screws hold on the water pump.
