9.9 Johnston Impellor change - how hard?

Has anybody changed an impellor on a 9.9 Johnston? If so how hard was it and do you have any tips? All info welcome. Cheers G :D

Welcome to iboats. Not very difficult at all for anyone with basic mechanical knowledge and some basic tools. What year or model number are we talking about? Do you have a manual? If not it is a wise investment.

hi thanks for the welcome,its model no is J10BACNS ihave got it going but does not pump water,was told an impellor would sort the problem? i would also like to know if this engine needs a petrol and oil mix?manual on its way to me good old ebay

So you were running the motor long enough to know it wasnt pumping water.But you dont know what type of fuel or lube to use?:confused:

That is a 1982, so you should be mixing at 50 to 1. The impeller very well could be the problem, and is a good idea to change on any new motor to you. The manual along with this forum will help. When it is down, clean out the water intake area, flush the water line, and inspect the water pump for signs of damage which may need to be changed as well. Also clean out the tell tale hose and nipple, pesky little spiders like to nest in them. Good luck.
