9.9 Mercury losing prime

I have a 2010 4 stroke 9.9 merc that will run great and then runs out of fuel and I squese the blub and it runs again this is a brand new motor and tank etc. it only has about 5 hrs on it.Thank you for your help Ken

Had similar problem with mine (2001) 9.9. Be sure all of the clamps are tight, also check that the hoses aren't cracked from dry rot, even if they are all new. Also be sure that the cap is on tight and vent in the cap is working properly. Sounds like you have a slight air leak in your line some where.

If that doesn't work try another tank..

Hey Guy,
When was the last time this motor ran? sure sounds like a bad fuel pump to me!!! When my 05 15 is working i will cave the sides of the three gallon tank in and still keep running if I forget to open the vent.

I think I found the problem. I cut the check valve out of the brand new gas can line between the tank and the bulb. It seems to be working. Thank you

Hi Kenww,
Do you mean the check in the primer bulb? Or do you mean the fuel filter?
