I have a 1987 sears gamefisher 9.9 outboard with electronic ignition<br />I have replaced 3 ignition coils in the last year and have anothe bad set<br />The top wire/coil looses spark every time and seems like both coils need <br />to be replaced to get it going again. The coils can only go on one way <br />and only so far with the clip on holder. I can't see any place where they<br />are shorting out. What am I doing wrong???? these coils cost about $100<br />each this is getting expensive. Looks like this stator plate can be switched<br />to points and rotor with old style ignition. Is this a practical alternative??<br />Can buy rotor and points cheaper then coils and may last... Suggestions??<br />Motor looks good and runs good when has spark but getting frustrated.
