9.9 Stalling

I have a 1993 9.9 Johnson / Bass Tracker. Been having stalling issues. On the lake today, the engine wouldn't start - cranking forever. Changed the plugs, raised the red switch, unplugged the gas line. Engine started. At shore, put it in idle & it died. I was able to start it a few times - same proceedure, but in idle it stalled. Whenever I plugged gas back in it would stall and not start again. Raised engine for some of this, and gas started coming out of carb and dripping. Pluggs were soaked. Seems like too much gas is getting in and flooding each time. At home got it started again, but wouldn't start again if turned off. Batteries died.

Seems if I disconnect gas, push key in, & crank for a long time it eventually starts. I can push in the neutral button, give it gas, & keep it running. But if I shut it off and go to re-start right away, it won't start again. Usually after flooding, then running, the flooding is gone and it will re-start whenever.

Please help. Thanks.

Re: 9.9 Stalling

The carburetor is fouled. Remove, clean, and rebuild it using a complete new carburetor kit. The kit would be available on this site, at your dealership, or NAPA.
