Re: 9.9 Suzuki not peeing hard.
Okay...a 96? 13 years on an impeller? The larger 'Zukis could get away with that because of the size of the impeller, but the smaller ones break blades after a couple of years. Remember that this model also has the water discharge (pee-hole, tell-tale, whatever) from under the block, as opposed to out of the exhaust cover on some OMCs. As the engine sits unused, the water residue turns to crust, and unfortunately the crust doesn't dissolve when the engine's next run, but chips up and blocks the hole. Your mechanic is right in telling you there's really nothing you can do, short of pulling the powerhead--or changing the impeller, if you haven't already. Remember the years of yore when there was only a discharge straight out the back of the engine, and you never even looked at it? Nothing's really changed. As long as you have that discharge, and your rev limiter or warning hasn't kicked in, and you occasionally do a temp test at the thermostat housing, you don't need to worry a bunch about the (visible side discharge/tell-tale/pee-hole). And I've moved up to Gruyere and Pinot Grigio, thank you.
