I'm rebuilding my 90 model 115hp cv4 and while I was tearing down the engine I found what appears to be an exhaust baffle or duct which is bolted to the powerhead one of these is in good shape the other has a hole in it and cracked. Any one know the purpose of these and can I get one? My manual doesn't list it and I've searched the net with no luck!

Any chance you actually have a high perf powerhead with the exhaust bubble style housingon the back of the powerhead? These engines have exhaust blocks bolted into the exhaust chest as you are describing. One on each side. If the powerhead was ever seriously overheated, it is possible that the filler block could crack. Bombardier sells replacement exhaust filler block kits under the part number: 392000. Probably sells for under $ 200.

I was told those blocks do little to nothing for the motor. One of mine was cracked, considering the cost I took them off of mine. The only difference I can tell is the motor sounds a little different. Not sure if this is good advice but it didn't seem to effect my performance any.
