I have a 1990 120 hp Force motor that has low compression in one cylinder. I have the opportunity to get a 1987 120 hp Force powerhead. The 87 is striped down, so the carbs, etc from the 90 will need to be transfered over (My wish) Does anyone have any input regarding putting an 87 powerhead on a 90 (Both are 4 cylinders)? Will everything lineup? Thanks for you input!

Spikes: Not sure if this is going to be a problem but they didn't make a 120 in 1987 I don't think. Its was the 125 in that year. I don't know if they would of been interchangeable.

Hi Spikes
Do you know a reason why you have a low cylender? How low is it? What are the numbers? Did you try a decarb treatment.

Re: 90 120 force

The new powerhead is actually off a 1987 125 hp. They are virtually the same motot, other than they force changed the way they determined the hp.

The cylinderhead was removed at a local dealer and they said that the 4th cylinder has a 'guage' (Amnesty on spelling)in it and would cost roughly $2000 for them to fix it. The compression in that cylinder was almost nonexistant (>25 psi). The balance of the cylinders were all within an acceptable range of each other 120-125psi

p.s. Steelspike, I have a mechanic with a manual that will be doing the work. I am gathering any preliminary info I can before he gets started. I don't know why you assumed I did not have a mechanic and manual?!
