I have a '93 Bayliner Capri 1800 w/a 90 Force. I'm having a problem with the trim, it will go down but will not go up unless you help pull it up. It's trying but just doesn't have the power. I'm hoping that I don't have to replace the motor. Any suggestions would be great. :(

Re: 90 Force trim problems

It could be the pump motor, but check out the hinge for signs of rust or freezing-up. If it's not taking grease, it will have a hard road to hoe, and can even ruin the o-rings.<br />Does the fluid look clear in the unit?

Re: 90 Force trim problems

I had the same problem on an '84 omc 235. As it turned out, the person that had it before me had worked on the trim and put it together upside down. What I mean is that the lines were reversed. The fluid coming out of the pump that should be pushing the motor up was accually pushing it down and vice/versa. After rerouting the lines to their correct destination all was fine.
