Hi everyone. We are currently replacing our water pump again. We had just replaced the impeller last September and it's already shredded. We have a new impeller, pump body and gaskets. As we were installing them we realized we were missing the waterline seal. Is this necessary? Part number is 26-F694735-1. What does this seal do exactly? And would that have caused our impeller to fail so quickly? Thanks for any input, we are new boaters.

That is stuck on the pick-up tube side that inserts into the top of the water pump housing.
(this is more of an adapter)
Missing that, would not cause the impeller to shred; only improper installation or running dry would do that (or cheap china product)

Is there a certain way the impeller should be installed? (Which way should the fins on the impeller be curved?) If that makes sense. I've read that they fins correct itself once started but I've also read that it has to be installed with the fins going towards a certain direction, like clockwise or counter clockwise.

Year?? Model# ?

The waterline seal: it's there to help align the pump and the water tube.

There's no direction for the vanes on the impeller.
You sure the impeller is the right one? There are 3 different impellers for the 90

You can force the old style impeller into the new style pump.
Really tight fit and it will destroy itself fairly quick.

The easiest & best way to install the Impeller;

1-have the cup(top part of housing) lightly coated with a none solvent lubricant
2- slide impeller in place (make sure the key is present)
3- slide the top of pump housing over drive-shaft till its resting on top of the impeller
4- WHILE turning the drive-shaft CLOCK wise, press the housing down and the fins will set properly.
5- DO NOT over-torque the the nuts on the studs (too tide can also cause extra friction

We got the water pump back together and then noticed this. It's the intake drain tube. The boat is in the water and we are afraid to start taking stuff apart to get this back on. Is it necessary to be screwed in? It must have been like that since we bought the boat last year.

That hose is for the excess fuel dripping from the carb into the plenum.
Then it gets sucked back into the motor and reused.
Unhok the elbow from the hose, screw it back into the plenum and re-hook the hose.

Probably hundreds of these hoses are un-hooked or missing and don't really hurt anything.
