I have a 90 hp mercury outboard..it runs fine for the first 5-10 minutes then it acts like its loosing power..like its running on five cylinders. Have checked all plugs and carbs..it only does this when you have it full throttle..any ideas as to what would cause this..

Disconnect the 2 yellow wires from the rectifier and test run, if that fixes it the rectifier is bad. If it don't and we could have a year or serial number we can give you the test for the ign. system.

When it starts faultering, squeeze the primer bulb. If it recovers either your fuel pump needs a kit or your hose routing from the tank to the engine needs some help. I had a 115 tower that had the hose routing and cleaning that up solved the problem. Didn't have to go into the pump.

Not to say that you don't have an engine mechanical problem other than a possible fuel pump, just that this is what happened to me.

Fuel filter clean ? Any water separating fuel filter that could be gunked up ? Check to see that throttle isn't creeping back .... Fuel tank vent working ?
