90 hp mercury

My 2005 90 hp mercury outboard has quit on me a couple of time while driving it. When it quits their is no spark to the plugs, then after about 40 minutes it will get spark and start and run again, also my rpm gauge doesn't work even when the motor is running??? Any help would b appreciated!

The tach is fed off a signal (grey wire) from the rectifier/regulator. Might check to see that your alternator is charging your battery when engine is running. If that is ok, then it's wiring to the tach or the tach...my guess.
