90 hp vs 75 hp

I noticed my 1991 90 hp is much louder than the 1991 Merc 75 hp that is also at our lake. <br /><br />I thought they were basically the same engine/block. Should there be that much more noise ( a deeper louder grumbling noise)?

Among the items that make 90Hp out of the same block as the 75Hp are carb throat size and exhaust tuning. I'd be suprised if the difference was all that noticable, but I suppose it could be. It could be that your 90 is mounted higher on the transom and the 75 is all the way down...that'd be a guess.
