90 hp yamaha 2 stroke(oil)

I just got a new 90 hp 2 stroke and i have 7 hours on it but after the break in will it burn as much oil as it does now. Because it is burning it like crazy.

I believe most of the 2-stroke engines with oil injection such as the Yamaha probably recommend adding premix (in addition to the oil supplied by the injection system) during the initial breakin period. After the breakin period you would no longer add oil to the gas, just to the oil tank. If this is a new engine you should check your operators manual and with the dealer that installed it.<br /><br />P.S. you said 2 stroke are you sure its a 2 stroke?

hello <br />what model 90? if its oil injected<br /> that engine at WOT, should burn about 1 quart of oil for every 12 gallons of gas. if consumption is more than this from the oil tank you need to have the system serviced. it will be due for its 10 hour check soon.<br /> good luck and keep posting
