'90 Yam 115 fuel guage has been reading eraticly. The boat has a 50 gallon tank, but with the guage reading 7/8 full it takes 30 gallons of fuel to fill. I suspect the sender is faulty. I am looking at the Tempo universal replacement sender. Does anyone know if this is compatable with the Yamaha guage. Thanks in advance.

Should be. Most gas guage inaccuracies seem to involve poor grounds. I have found if you use a seperate ground direct from the battery to the guage that they read more accurately.

I will look into the ground situation. I did not consider a bad ground since the gauge does fluctuate, just with seemingly little relation to the amount of fuel in the tank. The gauge always indicates more fuel than is actully in the tank. The gauge will read 3/4-7/8 full and then suddenly drop to 1/8 and the low fuel warning light comes on. When gauge does drop and indicate 1/8 tank it seems to be accurate.

Thanks for the ground suggestion.
