Is this motor underrated at 30 hp and will it withstand saltwater use?

BIA regulations state that motors must be within 10% (+ or -) of their rated HP. In your case, it has a low of 27 and a high of 33.<br /><br />It will be as good in saltwater as any other modern outboard. It will not last, if not cared for, however. The same as any other.
