90HP 2004 Merc electrical fire

Part of my job is looking at insurance claims and I've come across one where a 3-cylinder Merc of recent vintage had an electrical fire under the bonnet that destroyed the engine harness and a few other bits and pieces but left the boat harness alone.
there was no mechanical damage.
Is anyone aware of other problems of this nature?
Has their been a recall on voltage regulators?

There was a post on this the other day look down the list. I asked the same question. I have change out six of these that have caused a fire. So far all have been covered by the insurer.
