Hi, I'm a new poster, I've been lurking a while and really appreciate the wealth of knowledge here.

My problem is I took the boat out today, it was running like a champ until I went to start it to head in. It wouldn't slip into forward until I had it revving pretty high, it was skipping, it would start to catch, skip, start to catch, skip, add a little more throttle and it slipped into gear finally. Had absolutely no issue with reverse. Any help would be much appreciated.

I tried a search and as usually happens to me, I get nothing. I apologize if there is already a thread, maybe I just searched the wrong terms.

Welcome.
First we need the year of your motor so someone can give you advice in the proper order.
Also what size and make of boat the motor is mounted on.

Year,hp,serial# Profile,location.
You might be close to someone who can help.

Sounds like the cables need adjusting.
Unhook the connectors at the motor.
Then shift (both the motor and shifter) into neutral.
Then see where the connectors are located, then adjust them so the fit.
Don't adjust the throttle. It should have a bit of tension on it.

Chrysler 90 attached to a 1984 16ft Starcraft CSS, v-hull. I bought it used, the chrysler was on it.

model 908H3A
sn 1078
OR 4250-5250 RPM

I will be checking the cables in a day or two when I have some extra time. and I will get back on here. Thank you for that advice.

Newest problem is:
After removing the cowling I found what looks to be a counterweight of some sort and a washer sitting at the front of the engine and I'm still hunting for the bolt and nut that attached it to where it goes. I need to find a good engine photo or diagram to find out just what it is. Time to invest in a manual I suppose.
