Re: 90hp Evinrude need year model
In later years (mid to late 80's) a number of the casting plugs carried that type of number with a G prefix. In any event, that number is not found in the OMC serial number database. I am not sure if OMC discontinued stamping the serial/model information at that time, or if the block may have been a factory warranty replacement block produced by an outside vendor. When you get into situations like this, some detective work on your part may help you narrow the engine down to a particular year. You can compare engines by year, using the factory exploded parts diagrams found on the web at :epc.brp.com By comparing what parts are on your engine and part numbers of the carbs, etc, you may be able to narrow it down to a year. For instance, the early OMC engines had their blocks painted the color of the engine cowling, such as Johnson white or Evinrude blue. Later (late 80's?) engines had the blocks painted black, regardless of what engine they went into. Also, check the jet sizes in the carbs with the parts lists from various years....
