90hp Force with no serial number

So I'm trying to find my serial number to order a manual on my newly (to me) purchased boat, it came with a 90HP force on it. I looked for the serial number on the port side of the transom bracket and it looks to have come off. What is the easiest way to identify with the serial number missing?

I can upload some pics if that would help.

Also, I'm newer to repairing outboards, there is a boot below the motor that looks to be part of the water ejection, it is torn and for the life of me I cannot identify the part by name anywhere. Any help there?

If the ID tag is unreadable it can be hard to find the serial number.
Sometimes there has been a glued label around/behind the starter.
You can find the year of it by looking for a circle "stamp" in the block casting behind the mounting plate for the ignition power packs. In the center of it you have the year.
As it is a 90Hp and has Prestolite ignition system then it is from 1989-1991 (maybe 1992).
The rubber boot you refers to has part number 895012A01 and is for idle relief of the exhaust.

The starter has a date on it. 5/20/89
They started the 90 in 1990
The blue packs show it's around the late 80's up to the early 90's
Pics of the drive?
Pics of the cover?
Under the bottom carb should be another foundry stamp.

So I unbolted the ignition pack plate and was able to only find one circle stamp, didn't seem like it had numbers in the middle or I may just be looking at it wrong. I'll attach a pic of that. Forgive my ignorance of not understanding what pic of the drive you wanted, but I'll attach what I thought it may be.

I'll have to dig around under the bottom carb to look for that foundry stamp tomorrow, I'll also attach a pic of the cover with the corresponding part number.

Does it have single exhaust LU or dual?
If single I believe it is a 1990 and if duel exhaust a 1991.

The drive is the gear box or lower unit.
