90hp johnson lower unit

today i drained the lower unit gear oil in my motor and water trickled out a little bit and then a greenish colored oil came out. It was a little foamy coming out the bottom but at the fill ing hole above it the oil had no water and was clean looking not foamy. Is there a leak somewhere becuase of the water in the bottom or is it ok. What type of oil should I use to refill it and do I just fill it till it sarts to come out of the filling hole with the motor tilted all the way down?? I appreciate any help, this is my first time doing this.

alan,<br /><br />Water will come out first, because it is heavier than oil.<br /><br />Your fill technique is correct. Make sure you replace the fill/drain plug seals-they're cheap.<br /><br />Refill with "Hi Vis" available at John/Rude dealers.
