Re: 90HP JOHNSON

If there is no change when you pull the plug wire off number 2, then you either have no spark or fuel to that cylinder. Since you say you have spark to all cylinders, then I am inclined to think it's a fuel problem. Have you tried hitting the primer(Push in on the key switch) when it's acting up and see if it improves momentarily? Also, Pull that spark plug and see what it looks like compared to the others. Dry, Wet, Etc....

What year motor?

The answer to your question: "HAS FUEL,COMP,FIRE WHAT ELSE DOES IT NEED" is air. 8)

1.You get a spark across a 7/16" gap with a spark tester?
2. How did you rule out a fuel problem? Do you have choke plates or a primer?
3. Describe the appearance of #2 spark plug, after idling up to operating temp, in relation to the others. Insulator color, oily or dry or clean, ceramic color, deposits, etc.
4. What's the condition, age of the spark plug wires?
5. Compression of 145 or 134 would be good...but how does it compare to the other 3?

Throttle plates in sync? Choke plates (if you have 'em)?

Try sqirting some premixed fuel/oil into the carb throat with a spray bottle while it's running.

You might be seeing a spark when you test, but it isn't strong enough under pressure inside the cylinder. Try starting it at night, see if you can observe any arcing. Spark plug wires running parallel to one another can cross-fire.
