I have a 2005 2-stroke Mercury that bogs on take off just a bit... if you ease into it, she'll get on pad and scream. It does the same when loading on the trailer, once i'm on the bunks, if i give her any juice i have to really feather the throttle so it doesn't cut off. Any thoughts? Is this an idle adjustment? air/gas mixture? I just had carbs rebuilt last year by the dealer so, i'm hoping this is a slight tuning issue... thanks in advance. cheers!

Open low speed mixture needles 1/8th turn at a time and test run.----Likely the bog will go away.

Awesome! Thanks for the quick response here. I'm pretty un-educated in regards to boat engines. Any risk in changing the oil/gas mixture potentially causing internal engine damage?

??----I believe you misunderstand the concept of opening the low speed mixture needles.-----I can not believe the lack of understanding in how 2 stroke engines operate.-----Opening the low speed mixture needles does not increase the risk of engine damage in any way.

wow... i'm just asking a question here dude. I'm pretty sure you weren't just born knowing all about 2 stroke engine operations were you? i'm not asking to be chastized for a 'lack of understanding'... maybe someone else who wants to be helpful could chime in.

Idle mixture needles only affect engine at RPMs of 1200 and less. Low RPM of engine needs special, richer mixture than high speed operation.

Thanks for the feedback Chris1956. I'm going to dig into it this evening, hopefully this weekend having a chance to test it out...
