Is the Sea Rayder the 14' jet boat with the Mercury Sport Jet 90 engine?

Thanks for replying. Just bought this thing and have heard all the horror stories about the ignition problem. Yes, it is the sport jet 90. Got any words of advice?

Re: 90hp Sea Rayder owners HELP!

I have the same engine in a 94 Bayliner and it has had its challenges.

It sounds like yours is only firing on two cylinders. I have had this happen twice. The first time it was the switch box and the second time I had to replace the trigger. Get the Clymers manual, they have a very good section on diagnosing the ignition. I have seen the manuals in boat stores, on Amazon and ebay. It is called Clymer - Mercury Sport Jet Shop Manual 1993-1995. Also shop around for prices. I have had good luck with DougRussell.com. Check Mercruiser.com and Mercurypartsexpress.com for comparison.

CDI sold me the switch box and replaced it under warranty with no questions asked after one and a half years of their two year warranty.

Good luck,
Scott
