I have a 1995 90hp mercury ob everytime I start it spits back thru the carbs, I usually have to rush to put it in gear once it gets going it's fine.each additional time it fits right up but still has some misfire. I replaced the plugs and gas but it didn't fix the problem. I feel like it may be a a timing issue but I'm not sure how to adjust. anyone have any feedback? should I just leave it alone if runs good once it's moving.

Get a manual. It shouldn't be backfiring. Service carbs and check timing.....

For my money, take it to your local repair shop and have them rebuild the carbs and set the timing. Basically a good tune up. I would imagine it will run well after that.
Experience has taught me that I should leave some things to the pro's. In the long run you will be much happier.
