When in neutral the engine revs fine but once in gear if you peg the throttle the boat tries to plane of for about 10 seconds but the engine is not getting full rpm. Than about 15 seconds in the remaining rpms kick in and the boat planes of quick and the enigine starts screeming.

If you fast foward to 1:40, I peg the throttle from an idle and at 1:54 the engine kicks in and takes off. Any idea what this can be?

I think your dropping a cylinder.Check all your coil wires ,the plugs that the plug into all grounds, check plug wires for any cuts that will allow spark leaking.Did you try squeezing the ball while its straining?if squeezing hels, you likely have a dirty carb, one other thing ,look under the flywheel and make sure the timing base is rotationg as it should,it may be stuck and slow t advance the timing, lets us know what u find

thanks for the response. By dropping a cylinder do you mean loosing spark? If so, why would it rev fine in neutral?

because with it in neutral, there's no real load, and the suspect cylinder is just "along for the ride" I also suspect an ignition problem.

With some one else at the controls, use an inductive timing light and check spark when the problem occours. If you are loosing spark, which is what it sounds like, you will be able to determine which cylinder it is.

you can try bumping the choke while accelerating ,if enging runs better, its a carb prob.you can also pull plug wires off 1 at a time and see if you notice a big change in rpm,no change = bad cylinder which is either compression, spark or gas,
