I have a motor that according to the model # is a 93, the linkages however indicate a 91/92. Whas there a physical change in linkages? Do they look different? I am trying to get the idle and timing set correctly but I'm not sure which way to proceed. It is a replacement powerhead with my original attatchments, it came set up 91/2 but wouldn't idle in gear, I re-did it to 93 settings and it runs great (tank, muffs) I'm concerned about the timing as I don't want to blow a piston. Can I check/set the max spark advance w/o a test wheel? How do I hook up a tach?

Sorry for the rambling post I'm rushing out to work at 0400. I want to do this right but don't have the time or $$ for a mechanic.

Thanks in advance.

There were changes made, you match the linkage with photo in manual. 1994 manual shows a change, dont have 93 manual.

If I match the photo (Clymer) that would be the settings for a 91/92, there is no photo/diagram provided for 93. The problem I have is that the spark control arm and throttle arm lengths are considerably different from the 91/92 lengths and they do not allow the match marks to align. Right now I have it set per the 93 settings, it idles well in and out of gear (in a garbage can), idle timing is 0. My primary concern is that I cannot check the max spark advance. Is there any way to do this without a test wheel? Even if I reset everything to 91/92 I still cannot check the max advance timing.
