I am looking at buying a 91 Bayliner Capri 2050 with a 150 mercury. Boat is amazing shape but the owner did tell me after 30mph it starts to choke and bog down. The asking price is right so what would be your guess as the issue and could it be an easy fix? Thanks much

The Engine-part;

Could be the fuel-pump & Carburetors not working right; don't go by what he tells you!!
Take it for a run, Take Compression readings & oil-sample from lower-unit

The Boat-part;

Check for soft-spots and/or Deck-over if possible weigh the boat

look in the sticky notes regarding first time buying boat

My guess is the motor needs work and trouble shooting to find the problem. How much it will cost fix it is a complete unknown.

Do take a test drive to see for yourself. Can't do a test, then you're buying a pig in a poke and it's up to you if you want to take a chance.

Thanks for the advice gents. It’s potentially my first boat bigger than a tin can and I’m exiting but I can’t let it cloud my judgement
