Been a while since I've used site.
I recently bought a 91 Skeeter bassboat with rotted transom wood. I took the rub rail off and drilled out all the rivets for the cap but having a hard time lifting top off of hull. The cap is loose all the way around the boat and I'm able took pick up in the rear corners of the boat but where the transom inner and outer join with the plywood in between each skin will not separate for some reason. Am I missing something?
I've read alot about the seacast pourable transom repair composite and was wandering if I would be better off using the seacast or just using plywood back?
If I use seacast is there anything special that I need to do besides remove old plywood from between the outer and inner skin? When I pour the composite in between the two skins will it leak out some where in the hull or is the two skins encased where all the composite is contained???????? Never done this before and just want to make sure I don't make a MISTAKE.

There's a very good chance that there's a certain about of "Bonding" left in the area that's giving you grief.....
Using a suitable chisel or other Bladed Tool, Drive it Up along the inside where it's Hanging..... Along with some Prying, it Should Let Go...........

I'm Not a fan of this "seacast pourable transom repair composite"........
It's just a Band-aid for Lazy people.......
You've got the boat stripped down this far... Fix it Right with New Wood........
It'll be Safer,+ Much More Durable...........

Re: 91 skeeter transom damage

Have to disagree with Bondo about Seacast being a "bandaid for lazy people". I did a complete transom and poured some extra stringers to boot. That I did not have to separate the hull from the liner on a 20' boat to complete a job that made the boat stronger than new and showed no visible signs that it had ever been worked on. Not cheap and not without lots of effort but superb results were achieved. Given the same situation and what I know now I would do it again in a heartbeat. Don't know what it might take to win Bondo over to "fan" status. If new wood is the right way to fix it why are quality boat manufacturers touting composites instead of wood in their new boats? Just my .02 worth.
