'92 25 hp Evenrude Lower Unit Removal

'92 25 hp Evenrude Lower Unit Removal

After removing 4 bolts & 1 nut holding on lower unit, I can shift the LU down an inch, but it catches on something. What am I missing?<br /><br />Thanks,<br />Wullum

You are missing the shift linkage disconnect. I believ its behind the water intake screens in the lower unit. Its a plastic compression washer type deal. A manual would really be helpful to you.

yep takes 2 1/2 inch wrenches to uncouple. hold the bottom hex still and unscrew the top one. then slide the ferral nut up and remove the little black plastic "jesus" clip. when the clip flys off and gets lost you will understand the name.<br /> but first remove the water intake screens.
