"92" 50 horce force, made by Merc. How different is it then a Merc?

Just curious how much different a Force made by Merc an a Merc really are. Did they keep chrysler design an only add some parts or is it a Merc with Force cowling? The one I have is a "92"

As I understand it, the "Merc" built Force's used Merc lower units with Force (Chrysler) power Heads with some refinements.<br />By the way,I thought Merc didn't take over Force until 93 or 94, but I could be wrong.

Jango, could be but this one has tag on it saying Force built by Merc. And I checked serial number an stated it was a 92. Even though the guy I bought it from told me it was a 91.

Aint nothing merc on it....all force.
