I thought I had a carb problem and being a dumb dumb who already had the kit for "when" due to previous owner neglect I tore into it. About the time I did and discovered it fairly clean I decided to have a look at the complete internals of the fuel pump.

In my looking I found a bad check valve, floating around inside it. So, i ordered that kit and while waiting I rebuilt the carb. I was very tedious doing a lot of research and had a manual and online printout of the diagram. As I went I took digital pictures at every step. The I removed the orface plugs, cleaned inside the passages paid attention to the diagrams.

Rebuilt the fuel pump the same way. Gas is getting into the bowl, the bulb on the external line is not getting hard because there is some sort of a pressure release hole on the back side of the fuel pump. I may be nuts but prior to tearing all this apart I never saw gas come out of this. When I pump the bulb gas squirts out said hole.

I cant start the motor at the moment because the previous owner also over torqued the starter bracket bolts and BROKE the one piece of the housing. When I went to put the bolt back in it snapped so I need to deal with that before I can crank it. However, this gas coming out the back doesnt seem normal to me. What gives? This hole is there by design.

Re: 92 Evinrude E25ELENS Fuel Issue

Well, the more I thought about it last night the more that didnt make sense. Luckily I had saved my parts I took out as I only had one bad check valve. So I opened it this morning again before work. When I put the new diaphragm in last night the top bolt hole was out of line just a tad and this seirra bladder just tore a tad right at that bolt hole. As soon as I put the older diaphragm back in I got bulb pressure and no more gas spray. So the only thing not new in the pump is the bladder. Seems to work :)
