92 evinrude

I just wanted to know if the motor from a 1994 Johnson 40 hp engine fit on a 1992 evinrude lower unit?

That second link is a good link for the BRP catalog site. I think the point is that the model numbers for both engines are essential. About 20 different model numbers of 40 hp show up for 1992 alone.

The lower unit gearcase assy. have different PN's but the internals appear to be the same PN's. Did you mean a lower unit swap or a power head swap?

well i have a LU for the 92 evinrude and may be able to get a 94 johnson that has a broken LU but a good motor....

The lower unit gearcase assy. have different PN's but the internals appear to be the same PN's. Did you mean a lower unit swap or a power head swap?

Check your year models closely as if they are as post it will not work. The dirfference is the crankshaft spline size and driveshaft. 1989-92 will interchange and 1993-03 will interchange..

ok thx that was very helpful any idea what the LU would be worth if i was to sell it...it was just rebuilt about 6 months before the oil pump stopped working and killed the motor.....

ok i have new information it's not a 92 it's a 93 40HP evinrude (E40ELETB) this should fit with a 94 40 hp johnson....that's what i think your saying...correct?
