I have a major problem with this boat. It idles fine but when I step on the throttle all the way it has very little power about equal to 1/4 throttle. It will come on pretty good if I press in the choke on the key in a fluttering motion. When I let go it will die down again. If the fuel pump is bad would it run like this? I have cleaned both carbs in a carb cleaning tank, changed plugs, checked compression, cleaned gas filter on fuel pump. The carbs have been cleaned three times. Pulling out all jets and blowing air through the carb orfices. I have checked all gas lines, they look good. No water in gas,The inside of the pump looked ok? plugs look ok.Im baffeled.

Yep, fuel pump could definately be the culprit. Make sure your floats are adjusted properly and the needle is travelling freely.

Yep I think fuel pump also, on my engine my choke is a primer which directly injects gas pass the carborators into the manifold, My engine felt better after i repalced pump and cleaned carbs.

I didn't see what size engine you have but I have one question. Does the primer bulb stay hard all the time? When you have to fiddle with the choke see if your primer bulb is soft.

I tried a fuel pump with no luck. The primer bulb stays firm If I pump it it doesnt help at all . Only if I flutter the choke will it seem to try to run halfway decent. but very irratic. It is a 40 hp twin.

Sounds like your high speed jet is clogged in the carb. Remove and clean thoroughly. Any speck in the jet will cause this. Also check your float while you are in there. It may be sticking. Remove and clean the needle valve and seat. Set the float to be level with the carb when turned upside down.
