Hello, just decided to join iboats. I recently bought a 14' Starcraft and have figured out the seller ripped me off lol.
Apparently he bought the boat and stripped it of all the good stuff and replaced with junk. The motor was a 71 9.9 sportwin evinrude short shaft which ive replaced with a Tohatsu 9.8 long shaft as my transom is 20". Ill have to replace the flooring and patch some holes in the hull/trans this winter but for now i have a pressing question. Theres a lake i want to fish desperately but its a 1.5 hour trip on a very rough road so i was thinking of using a trans saver but my stern roller is way up under the boat. would it be possible to mount a removable crossbar to the bunks that i can attach the saver to? I apologize if this seems like a dumb question but as this is my first boat i dont want to ruin it. Thanks p.s. is there a 5200 sealant for aluminum?

Welcome.
I would just use a ratchet strap to snug the motor to the transom so it won't bounce.

Welcome aboard,

Does the transom need replaced on your PO junked up boat? Using the boat in poor condition can cause damage and be unsafe.

That being said a clamp on 9.8 hp OB is tiny and I would just remove it for the trip on the bad road.
