HAve a 92 volvo 4.3 with 290dp has a vibration that can be felt between about 1800-2500 rmp above 3000 rpm it is not noticable. Started inspecting drive. Everything ok. Vibration exactly the same with the drive completely removed.(so no responses about my u-joints and props.)
Aside from the basic tune up things that have already been done as well as cheching engine compression, where can i look from here?

When you replaced the spark plug wires after the tune-up and compression check, did you maybe get the plug wires crossed or not pluged in all the way? Also, were they really hard to remove? If so, could you have damaged one?

Hey Skalar89,
Think I have some good info for you, but first is that a typo "290dp"? I have a 93 MCM 4.3 with 205hp and thought that was the tops for that generation.
Either way checking wires is good, also check dist cap for build up on the posts on the inside.
I believe your 4.3 is also a balance shaft engine, that came in to play in 92, which means it should'nt vibrate to badly ( still is a GM)
But primarily,.. (don't know what carb you have) but I have a Weber 4brl and noticed that only 1 side of the accel jets were working, which led me to believe the rest of the carb is likley clogged. If 1 side of a 4brl is lagging and its feeding 6 cylinders, its not going to be smooth.
My symtoms are identical to yours, out drive off, still the same. rebuilding carb this winter, so wont know definately till next season.
let me know what you find.
