93 115 water pump replacement question

I am almost done replacing the water pump. Look at the faqs but have question, what is the trick to getting the key in place???? been trying for a half hour to slide the housing down the shaft the hold the key in place and push down, but dont want to jack anything up. any suggestions ?

if its anything like my '82, with the plastic wedge shaped key, I just use a dollop of grease or vaseline to hold it in place while I go about reassembling the waterpump

thanks, I figured it out, just take my time and wiggle the water pump houseing as it slides down and it slid right in.
