93' 120 Johnson Loop Charged Hole Shot Problem

I have a 1993 120 Johnson LoopChared that has an hole shot problem. It will not rev over about 2800rpm out of the hole and takes about a minute to finally get on plane. Once on plane it seems to have good power and revs to 5500 rpm. Some time the problems completely goes away and the motor runs fine out of the hole. The tach also goes out some times but not consistent with hole shot problem. Any suggestions?

What boat? What pitch prop? 1993 120 is not a crossflow - what's the model number?

It sounds like you are over-propped and that the motor was raised to compensate for it.

Sorry, your right it is a loop charged Mod # vj120tlatf. I would have to look at my prop for the pitch but I don't think that is the problem since it is an intermittent problem. Some days you get in the boat and it jumps right up on plane and it achives the same WOT rpm that it always does. Thanks for the reply.

What boat are we on here ??? and what is your usual load ??? people, gear etc.

The boat is a 1993 17' Javelin. I usually one have myself in it. I weight about 180#.
