Hey guys, this is my first post.

Yes I looked for anything similar to this in the archives but could not find the same problem or solution listed. Unless I missed something... :p

I have a 1993 Seaswirl with an EFI OMC Cobra 5.8l. I got it with a bad low pressure fuel pump (or so the previous owner said).

Replaced low pressure pump. The whole system was absolutely clogged. I flushed the fuel lines out with brake clean (removed each line and cleaned). Cleaner through the high pressure pump to get gunk out and its clean as well. Replaced fuel filter/separator. Injectors were clogged bad too, so I got a set of new ones for cheap and replaced them as well. Both fuel pumps now work, although I do not have a PSI reading. Boat gets spark.

So, I now try to start the boat, and it cranks (not super fast in my opinion, but was told normal), and will backfire through the intake (flame out of the intake). It will not start with starting fluid. It does not seem to try and start either.

I verified that the firing order is correct.

Any ideas?! I want to get this thing out in the water :)

Thanks in advance!

Backfiring out the carb tells me the timing is to far advanced. Being a Ford 351 (5.8) the distributer rotates couter clockwise looking down at the top. Firing order is 1-3-7-2-6-5-4-8
