'93 50hp 3 cylinder, exhaust gasket leak..???

I was out yesterday and noticed on start up that there seemed to be a bit of smokey exhaust coming from under the motor. Looked to be coming out from under where the motor and top of the pivot are. I'm thinking it's an exhaust gasket leak. I'm going to take a look today but was wondering if there's anywhere particular I should look at? I know some gaskets are known for blowing out in certain spots.
