'93 Evinrude Intruder 150 V6 shuts down(intermitent)

My 1993 Evinrude Intruder 150 has been having an intermittent problem . The motor will shut down at acceleration from idle and then at idle, and then not start at all. This happens especially after short trips and cooling down after some fishing. The engine does not sputter to a stop but just flat quits. After a few hours or more, the engine will run without a problem. <br />Following service has been done by authorized Evinrude repair shop: 1) New VRO pump 2) New optical fuel line sensor. 3) New primer bulb and fuel lines. 4) New spark plugs 5) compression & spark check - OK. Problem is intermittent so very difficult to duplicate at repair shop. I mix my oil manually. Some days I can run the boat all day only to have problem occur at the end of the day.<br />Something is happening in the engine that is telling it to stop firing. Can anyone please assist? Did the dealer mechanic rule out ignition switch and safety lanyard switch as possible culprit?When engine dies and won't restart ,have you removed one of the plug leads and tested for spark while cranking?

After you do OB's suggestions, if you still have the problem check and clean all ground wire connections and contact gounds. Including battery cables, powerpack ground, coil grounds. Look for any bad insulation on power wires and especially on the kill circuit wire.

Have not checked for spark after engine won't start. It's usually when I'm out on the lake. Will forward all suggestions to dealer. Took boat back to shop this morning. They were talking about a possible bad stator, what do you think? Thank you for your suggestions, I would really like to see this problem go away.

I personally have had the same EXACT problem. I had a bad power pack. Had it replaced and it runs like a dream. <br /><br />After it died, for a few minutes I'd squeze the bulb firm, choke & crank etc.. eventually it would start.<br /><br />Gradually it got worse and worse. Finally got to the point where at 3500 RPM it woud die, just like it was shut off. <br /><br />This was when I was really happy I had twins
