The last time I went fishing, before my engine died (another thread for that one), my trim wouldn't go down. To get it to go down, I had to swap the 2 wires around at the relays and hit the up button and the motor went down.

Is it the relays bad or what?

I had the same problem on my 70hp Force. I figured it's the relay, although the relay clicks inside....I'd like to find out where to get the relay I need.

you can't be sure because you swapped wires instead of relays (or entire relay connector blocks). However, it is probably the relay. Relays are dirt cheap. They are a generic part used on 12v motors, stereos, alarms, and lighting. You can find them for $2-$10 each at local auto stereo shops, ebay, amazon. Look for the ones with glue around the base. Most, but not all, of the cheap ones do not have the glue around base and the plastic housing can pop open. The glue is meant to secure housing but actually helps keep out moisture in a marine application.

I swapped relays and it goes down now and not up. I guess I'm getting relays at this point.
