Hey All,
I recently purchased a 93 Stratos 274 fish and ski with 140hp Evinrude. I have a speed question - NADA says the boat weighs 1400lbs. Let's say with two people, fuel, and gear that's another ~500... so 1900 lbs total. The boat will only run 42-45 mph top speed. I figured a small boat like this with a 140hp would run 50+ easily. It currently has a 22p SS prop. I dont know much about swapping props other then 1" pitch is approx 200rpm. The motor runs strong and has tons of power... gets up to the 40mph marker quickly.

Being new to this boat/outboard setup - does anyone have this boat or a similar boat with 140hp? If so do you mind sharing some about your top speed and prop sizes.

Thanks alot!

Yup 42-45 mph is about right. Be happy where you are at and go boating!!

What are your RPMs at WOT?

About 5900, which from what I read 5500-5800 are WOT range for the motor. If I go up 2 on my prop that would still keep me right on the low side... But then I question how many mph I will gain vs. Cost.

I am fine with 45mph, However, I would rather have that as a cruise speed instead of WOT gas guzzling speed.
