'93 Yammie 225 water pump troubles

I've got a 93 225 that I just purchased an OEM water pump kit for and started the job. I ran into the first problem (pictured below) and a stuck or frozen key (holds the impeller in place). What is this thing pictured (lloks like an aluminum cuff to hold the impeller down), because there was nothing like this in my kit and is it necessary? How is the best way to remove that d______d impeller key? Thanks for the help....I'm at wits end.

That was what I'm needing.........now how do you get a stuck woodruff key out? I've used creep to loosen it, to no avail.......I guess the Dremel is next??

The dremel tool works again!

Then had to go back to the dealer and get the plastic compression ring and SS ring also......wonder why the don't add that to the water pump kit???
