Just finished rebuilding the engine, the engine started right up and runs very well, but I have a water leak somewhere at the mid case to power head junction. The water indicator is shooting a good stream, and the engine is circulating water. No leaks at the thermostat housing. No leaks above the mid case or inside the engine cover area at all.

Anyone have an idea which seal, O-Ring or gasket in this area could be leaking??

BTW, I was running the engine on muffs in the driveway...

The adapter plate gasket is the first thing I'd suspect.

c/6
Hooty

Can I get by with the adapter plate gasket leaking this season & replace the gasket in late fall?

I was browsing thru old posts using the search function and a few posts speak of an updated adapter plate gasket for the power head anyone know the part number?

Could the water pressure from the muffs / city water be causing the leak?

Don' know about a superseded gasket.
The pressure relief valve should keep the engine water pressure from going high enough to blow out a gasket unless the volume of water was more then the relief could bypass. Then, I guess the city water pressure could be a problem. When I run on the hose, I just little more then crack the hose valve.
As far as running it the rest of the season, you most likely can. Keep an eye on the water pressure and look for other damage the leak may cause. The absolute, positively worse thing that can happen is ya toast the engine. :D

c/6
Hooty

Well the last thing I need is another toasted power head...

I can't think of any other seal in that area that could be leaking so I'll just replace the gasket, any tips on how to keep the next one from leaking also? I hand cleaned the mating surfaces on the last installation and made sure it was seated before tightening the power head bolts.
